Property developer Sean Mulryan is to receive the Freedom of Roscommon next week.
Cathaoirleach Liam Callaghan proposed the Oran native for the honour at a Roscommon County Council meeting last month.
Mulryan's Ballymore Group, plan to make Athlone Ireland's first green city with a population of 100,000 by 2040.

He was previously awarded the Freedom of London in 2025.
A ceremony to honour Mr. Mulryan will take place at Áras an Chontae next Tuesday afternoon.
