Scarcity of GP services across the Shannonside region

A Ballinasloe based councillor says GP services in the area are under major pressure.

Fine Gael Cllr Alan Harney raised the issue at the most recent regional health forum meeting.

In response to Cllr Harney's question, JJ McGowan who is the Chief Ambulance Officer in the West, recognised that there is currently an undersupply of GP's in Ireland.

Cllr Harney says he will continue to raise the issue with the HSE.
