Leitrim has seen a 32 per cent increase in the number of new electric vehicles registered so far this year.
There were 37 new EVs registered in the county in the first six months of the year, according to the latest figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Society.
Registrations across the Shannonside region are up 25 per cent overall compared to the same period last year.
Roscommon saw an increase of 25 per cent when it came to newly registered EVs while there was an 18 per cent rise in Longford.
Overall, there were 183 electric vehicles registered in the region between January and July of this year.
Drumshanbo's Adam Ó Ceallaigh, from the Green Party, is welcoming the sharp increase in Leitrim.
