Ruth Connolly-Conboy has officially taken her seat on Roscommon County Council this afternoon.
The Castleplunkett woman was selected to fill the seat left vacant by Gareth Scahill's elevation to the Seanad at a Fine Gael selection convention earlier this month.
She was proposed by Cllr Liam Callaghan and seconded by Cllr Domnick Connolly at today's monthly meeting of the local authority.
The new Roscommon LEA member paid tribute to late councillors Anthony Waldron and John Naughten in her opening speech.
She said she was now looking forward to working with council colleagues over the next four years:
