Around 100 people took part in a demonstration in Roscommon town yesterday afternoon to show solidarity with the people of Gaza.
It was part of a series of events taking place across the country and one of three such pro-Palestinian rallies in the Shannonside region.
Those in attendance said there was renewed anger this week after Israel broke a fragile ceasefire, launching a barrage of airstrikes on the Gaza strip.
One of the organisers, Deirdre Allen, called on the Irish Government to impose sanctions on Israel.
92-year-old Padraic Stephens is one of the original organisers of the local Palestinian solidarity demonstrations.
He accused Israel of committing acts of genocide.
Former Fianna Fáil TD Eugene Murphy also attended the demonstration.
He claims western powers have turned a blind eye to Israeli aggression.
