High-risk mothers are no longer seen in the unit, due to concerns over clinical care.

Roscommon County Council is to write to the Taoiseach over the 'downgrading' of maternity services at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe. High-risk mothers are no longer seen in the unit, due to concerns over clinical care. Fine Gael councillor Valerie Duffy is calling for a timeline for the reinstatement of all services.

Roscommon councillors agreed to write to Micheál Martin, Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, and the HSE's Tony Canavan. Councillor Duffy says it's correct to contact the Taoiseach:
