Roscommon Councillors officially sign off on €86m budget for 2026

Over €32m in this year’s budget has been set aside for road transport and safety, just over €13m for housing and building and around €7m spending for recreation and amenity.

Roscommon Councillors signed off on an €86m budget for 2026 earlier today. It's an 8% increase on last years budget. Over €32m in this year’s budget has been set aside for road transport and safety, just over €13m for housing and building and around €7m spending for recreation and amenity.

A 5% increase in commercial rates was also signed off on by councillors today but it's set to only apply to around 4% of businesses in the county. Council Chief Executive Shane Tiernan also provided on update on the N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramoge bypass:
