Roscommon council buys nearly 60 homes to prevent tenants becoming homeless

The Tenant in Situ Scheme allows someone to continue to rent their home if their landlord is selling the property.

Roscommon County Council has bought nearly 60 homes from landlords because their tenants were facing eviction.

The Tenant in Situ Scheme allows someone to continue to rent their home if their landlord is selling the property.

The state steps in and buys the property from the landlord, and then continues to rent the home to the tenant.

The Minister was responding to questions from Roscommon-Galway Fianna Fáil TD Martin Daly.
