Traffic restrictions on the Majors Well Road in Longford town are set to be lifted before Christmas.
The issue was raised at yesterday's meeting of the Longford MD by Councillor Gerry Warnock.
Works on the road began in late 2021 after a series of delays.
Councillor Warnock has welcomed the news of the scheduled completion of works.
'I asked the question 'do we expect to have these works completed before the couple of weeks running up to Christmas' ?, which is so important to local retailers as we all know, and that commitment was forthcoming, that seemingly there's only a small bit of work to do, a small bit of surfacing to do, that most of it will be done overnight, and the expectation is that all traffic restrictions on that stretch of road will be lifted, well in advance of Christmas.'
