Roads re-open following fatal Athlone collision

The roads closed in Athlone following a fatal road traffic collision at half past two this morning have been re-opened this afternoon.

Motorists travelling between Athlone and Moate had been advised to use the M6 following the collision near Kilmartin's roundabout on the Dublin side of the town.

A motorcyclist in his 30's was killed in the collision.

Anyone who may have been travelling  in the area around half past two this morning is being asked to contact Athlone Garda Station.
