Road safety appeal to motorcyclists this bank holiday weekend

A road safety appeal to motorcyclists and other roads users to be aware of motorbikes over the long weekend has been issued.

Local gardaí are making a special appeal to motorcyclists this bank holiday weekend to slow down on the roads and for other road users to be aware of motorbikes, especially at junctions.

Additional Garda checkpoints will be in operation across the region as heavy traffic is expected due to the first bank holiday weekend without significant restrictions since last year.

Sunday afternoon is the most dangerous time on the roads for motorcyclists and Community garda sergeant in Leitrim Orla McGrath is urging all riders to take special care this weekend.
