Revenue officers have seized contraband worth more than €174,400 in a series of operations, including the Midlands.
The enforcement actions resulted in significant drug, tobacco, alcohol, and counterfeit goods seizures.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
6.4kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €128,575,
2, 536 of assorted tablets, with an estimated value of over €4,990,
Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €1,600,
Tobacco products, with an estimated value of almost €2,580, and representing a potential loss to the exchequer of almost €1,910,
Over 653 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of over €8,190, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €4,510, and 70 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €28,460.
The herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dogs Sam & Ciara.
The parcels were destined for various addresses nationwide.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Ten weapons were also seized.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
