It has been confirmed that Catherine Connolly has officially topped the poll in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency.
The results of the first count have just been released.
An Independent TD, Ms Connolly got 63.46 per cent of the first preference votes, with Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys on 31.36 per cent and Jim Gavin of Fianna Fáil on 5.18 per cent.
The turnout was 49.2 per cent and 11.18 per cent of the votes were spoiled.
