Refurbishment works have begun at the St. Joseph's Care centre in Longford ahead of a major extension to the building.
The works are being concentrated in the main building on the Dublin Road.
The Care Centre is to see the construction of a major expansion to the service comprising of 43 en-suite residential units, day rooms, activity and therapy rooms along with staff support facilities and dining rooms.

County planners gave the greenlit to the full expansion earlier this year with 12 conditions attached.
