Protest over public realm works in Ballaghaderreen to take place at county council headquarters today

The controversial project has been the subject of ongoing protests in Ballaghaderreen in recent months.

A protest over ongoing public realm works in Ballaghaderreen will take place at Roscommon County Council headquarters today. A busload of retailers and residents is making its way to Áras an Chontae in Roscommon town this afternoon.

The controversial project has been the subject of ongoing protests in Ballaghaderreen in recent months. Retailers have confirmed they will hold a peaceful demonstration before and after today's monthly meeting of the local authority.
The protest is due to commence at around two o'clock.

Cllr Tom Crosby is in favour of the works and says the council executive has made efforts to allay fears over parking:

The Independent councillor said the construction of the council building was also controversial but that project was completed in 2016 and has since been hailed as a success. He says his stance on public realm works remains unchanged:
