The preferred route has been unveiled for the permanent pipeline to relieve flooding at Lough Funshinagh. It was presented to members of the public at an event in the Hodson Bay Hotel earlier this week. The proposal involves the transfer of water by gravity from the south Roscommon turlough.
Water will be brought to Lough Ree via three kilometres of pipe through existing fields and public roads. Local councillor said the preferred course will link with existing pipeline that's already 60 percent complete:
