Pope died from stroke and heart failure, Vatican says

It's been confirmed Pope Francis died this morning, from a stroke and subsequent heart failure.

The Vatican's released more details of what happened, also revealing he had fallen into a coma.

Just hours earlier - the 88-year-old had blessed Easter Sunday crowds, who'd gathered at the Vatican for what was one of his first major appearances since a recent hospital stay, for double pneumonia.

Mourners are back in St Peter's Square this evening, for a rosary prayer service.
