Catherine Connolly is set to secure victory in the presidential election according to the latest opinion poll.
The Irish Independent/Ireland Thinks poll suggests support levels are at 40 per cent.
Heather Humphreys is at 25 per cent and Jim Gavin, who withdrew from the race is on 7 per cent.

A total of 28 per cent who won’t vote, don’t yet know how they will vote or plan to spoil their vote.
Polling stations are open from 7am until 10pm on Friday.
