A retired garda from east Galway is concerned a burglary victim will use a gun if someone breaks into their home.
Tom Cunningham was speaking at a public meeting about rural crime in his home parish of Glinsk last night.
Almost 1,000 people have signed a petition to express their concern about the number of burglaries in the region recently.
