The community wants state supports for landowners affected.

Forestry Minister Michael Healy-Rae is willing to go to west Roscommon to assess damage done by the massive forest fire last month.

He’s willing to meet a delegation from the community.

The news emerged at a public meeting in Gortaganny last night, attended by around 100 people.

There were several calls for Castlerea fire station to reopen – eight years after it closed.
