Workers who lose their jobs could received benefits linked to pay for the first nine months. A revised proposal to reform the welfare system is expected to be brought to Cabinet.
The Irish Independent reports a graduated system of payments would be introduced under Government plans. Other measures would see thousands of long-term family carers qualify for full State pensions for the first time.
