Planning sought for upgrade works at a local cinema

Planning permission is being sought in Athlone for a substantial upgrade to a popular local cinema. Cinema Properties Limited are seeking an expansion to the IMC Cinema at the Golden Island Shopping Centre in the town. The plans include an internal reconfiguration that would see the construction of 4 additional screens, a new cinema entrance and the re-location of 33 car parking spaces with the Shopping centre car park.

Also included in the application is a new restaurant adjoining the cinema building, new signage and demolition works to facilitate the new build. County planners will decide on the application in January.
