Planning granted for energy upgrades to Athlone Supermarket

A supermarket in Athlone has been granted planning permission for major renewable energy upgrades.

SuperValu lodged the application with Westmeath planners to install 1110 square meters of solar panels onto the roof of its Ballymahon Road site.

The photovoltaic panels are sought to supply renewable electricity directly to the store.

Westmeath County planners granted the application with three conditions attached.
