Planners have given the green light for a 230-acre solar farm in Co Longford - despite strong objections.
Some local residents claimed it would badly affect the environment and wildlife.
BNRG Ballymahon asked Longford County Council for planning permission for this solar farm across several townlands.
They include Tirlickeen and Cartonbrack and are all located between Longford town and Ballymahon.
Under the plans, around 355,000 square metres of solar panels would be developed on a site of around 230 acres.
Lots of local residents said they were strongly against the plans, with 19 submissions lodged.
Some were concerned about the loss of high-quality farmland, harm to wildlife, the environment, drinking water and views of the area.
One resident also claimed the planned entrance of the solar farm is on a very bad corner, which has had lots of accidents.
But the council has given the plans the go-ahead, with 22 conditions.
They include the payment of a development contribution of around €700,000.
