Permission granted for Irish Water energy infrastructure development

The plans were approved for the solar panels this week

Irish Water received permission to install a significant amount of new renewable energy infrastructure at a Roscommon water plant.

A planning application for ground and roof mounted solar panels has been greenlit by Roscommon County Council for the Lough Garra Water Treatment Plant at Runnameelta.

The plans call for the photo voltaic panels to be distributed over grass areas, closed water tanks, and the flat roof of the plant building.

Meanwhile Uisce Eireann is seeking permission for upgrades to the pumping station in Ballaghderreen.

Plans include the construction of an additional stormwater holding tank, kiosk and all associated works north of the existing pumping station at Costello, Ballaghaderreen.

A decision on the application is due at the end of March.
