Pedestrian killed overnight in Tipperary road collision

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, to contact them.

A pedestrian has been killed after being hit by a car in Co. Tipperary.

The collision happened shortly after 10pm last night on the R499 between Toomevara and Ballinamona Cross.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has since been removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem will take place.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick as a precaution.

The road remains closed and Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
