A local senator has said dog owners need to take accountibility to prevent attacks on livestock.
Longford-Westmeath senator Paraic Brady told the Seanad that there are fines from €100 to €300 for anybody caught by a dog warden who has a dog off a leash or one that is worrying sheep.
The Fine Gael senator said that two thirds of these fines were not paid in 2024 by dog owners.
