Owners urged to prevent dog attacks on livestock

There are fines from €100 to €300 for anybody caught by a dog warden.

A Longford senator says a rise in pet-ownership during the Covid pandemic has led to a big increase in dog-attacks.

Fine Gael's Paraic Brady says dog-attacks on livestock reached a six-year high last year.

He says dog wardens can fine someone up to 300 euro if their animal is off the leash or is worrying sheep.

But he says two thirds of these fines weren't paid last year - which he says is alarming:
