Funding of over 345 thousand euro has been allocated to a number of local animal welfare charities.
Minister of Agriculture, Martin Heydon says the fund is in recognition of excellent work and the challenges faced by the charities and is the highest ever awarded under the Animal Welfare Grants Programme.
Among those is 100 thousand euro on the way to Longford-based Hungry Horse Outside, Roscommon SPCA will receive nearly 49 thousand and Fairyglen Community Animal Sanctuary will receive almost 20 thousand euro.
Leitrim Animal Welfare is the sole recipient in the county with 35 thousand euro allocated there.
