Over a thousand people gathered at the Mall in Longford Town this morning in support of the FTD Brothers' fundraising marathon.
Brothers Jordan and Cian Adams are running 33 marathons in 33 days to raise awareness about dementia.
Their mother Geraldine passed away from frontotemporal dementia at the age of 52, a genetic condition the brothers are almost certain to develop.
Their family has roots in Drumlish and Ballinamuck, with their grandmother hailing from Mohill, in Co. Leitrim also.
The brothers' fundraiser has caught international attention, and yesterday they received a letter from Prince William to commend them for their efforts.
Speaking at the Mall in Longford this morning, Cian says the support has been 'amazing':
Pupils and staff from local schools as well as political representatives all turned up to send off the brothers from the Albert Reynolds Peace Park in Longford Town today.
Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council Garry Murtagh welcomed the great community support:
The brothers set off at 11 o clock, and they have been running through Newtownforbes and Cloondara.
They will finish off the marathon at the Circle K on the Battery Road.
Local TD Micheál Carrigy also came out to show his support - he says he has a personal connection to the cause:
