It's emerged that there are over 8,500 children in the Shannonside region on assessment of need waiting lists.

In response to a parliamentary question received by Longford-Westmeath TD, Sorca Clarke, Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill confirmed, at the end of 2025, there were over 20,000 overdue applications.
The HSE Dublin and Midlands region, which includes county Longford accounted for 7,171 children waiting, the highest figure in the State.
Roscommon and Leitrim are both part of the HSE West and North West area which saw 1,395 on the list.
