Over 800 local recipients of additional needs payments so far this year

The Additional Needs Payment is a payment to help you with an expense that you cannot pay from your weekly income or other sources.

There were over 800 recipients of the Additional Needs Payments in the Shannonside Northern Sound region in the first quarter of this year.
Figures were revealed earlier this week following a parliamentary question from Deputy Louise O'Reilly to Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary.
The Additional Needs Payment is a payment to help you with an expense that you cannot pay from your weekly income or other sources.
You may get an Additional Needs Payment if you are getting a social welfare payment, or working and on a low income, regardless of the number of hours that you work.

In terms of the Shannonside Northern Sound region, Monaghan has the highest number of recipients at 220.
From January to March, there were 192 in Longford, 175 received the payment in Cavan while there are 167 and 107 in Roscommon and Leitrim respectively.
Nationally, 14,262 received the payment.
