Longford has one of the highest levels of boarded up council homes in the country outside of Dublin and other major cities.
Figures provided to Sinn Fein under the Freedom of Information Act show 83 council properties are currently boarded up and out of circulation in Longford, Roscommon and Leitrim.
The figures show that the majority have been boarded up for up to 6 months, with 13 of those out of circulation for over a year.

50 homes have been sealed off in Longford, 18 have been taken out of action in Roscommon, while 15 council properties have been boarded up in Leitrim.
