There are over 700 active HAP tenancies in the Shannonside region.
The figures come following a parliamentary question from Sinn Féin's Housing spokesperson, Eoin Ó Broin to Minister for Housing James Browne.
The Housing Assistance Payment or HAP is a form of social housing support available for people who have a long-term housing need.
Any household assessed as eligible for social housing is immediately eligible for HAP.
Eligible households can source their own accommodation in the private rental sector which should be within the HAP rent limits provided to them by the local authority.
As of September 2025, 770 were active in the Shannonside region.
329 were held in Roscommon with the average HAP monthly landlord payment €575.
229 were held in Leitrim with an average of €488 and 220 in Longford averaging €509.
In total, nationally, there were 50,705 active tenancies.
