Over 70 complaints against local Gardaí last year

78 allegations of misconduct were made against Shannonside Gardaí to their watchdog last year.

According to freedom of information figures, 47 were made against officers in Roscommon/Longford and 31 in Sligo/Leitrim. There were over 3,200 allegations made against Gardaí around the country to the Garda Ombudsman in 2023. Councillor Gerry Warnock, a member of Longford Community Safety Partnership, believes many of them won't be upheld.
