Over 44,000 cars failed NCT in Shannonside Northern Sound region last year

Over 44,000 cars failed the NCT in the Shannonside Northern Sound region across 2025. The statistics were made available on the official NCT website. Just over 79,000 tests were carried out in Carrick-on-Shannon, Castlerea, Cavan, Longford and Monaghan between January and December.

Castlerea had the highest pass rate in the region at 45.64%. That was followed by Carrick-on-Shannon at 44.72% and Monaghan at 42.16%. Across all three centres there were over 7,146 dangerous failures.
