Over 260 commencement notices have been issued in the Shannonside region so far this year.
That's one of the findings from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, which has published its monthly figures.
A Commencement Notice is a notification to a Building Control Authority that a person intends to carry out works or a Material Change of Use under the Building Regulations.
The notice must be given between 14 and 28 days before starting the works or change of use.
Once validated by the authority, works must commence on site within the 28-day period.
From January to November, there were 133 in Roscommon, 80 in Longford, while in Leitrim, there were 50.
Data shows that over 1,500 commencement notices for new homes lodged in November 2025, an increase of 10% compared to a year previously.
