Over 250 people in the region still waiting to be paid as part of ACRES scheme

101 are waiting in Leitrim, 60 in Longford, while in Roscommon, there are 91.

There are over 250 people in the Shannonside region still waiting to be paid as part of the ACRES scheme, with 23 of these payments outstanding since 2023. Under the scheme, farmers are paid to carry out environmental actions on their holdings up to a maximum of 7,000 euro per year. 101 are waiting in Leitrim, 60 in Longford, while in Roscommon, there are 91

It was initially expected to cater for 30,000 farmers, however, demand led to 46,000 places being made available. Leitrim farmer and former IFA national sheep committee chairperson, Kevin Comiskey says patience of farmers is wearing thin:
