The data has been put together for the CSO with information from website rip.ie

There have been an estimated 2,000 to 2,400 excess deaths since the start of the Covid pandemic, according to new analysis.

The CSO says death notices were particularly high in April 2020 and January and February of this year.

According to the CSO, there've been around 2,500 deaths in the month of April between 2014 and 2018. But in April 2020, during the first wave of Covid, the number of death notices on RIP.ie was over 3,500.
