Over 200 commencement notices have been issued in the Shannonside region so far this year.
That's one of the findings from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, which has published its monthly figures.
A Commencement Notice is a notification to a Building Control Authority that a person intends to carry out works or a Material Change of Use under the Building Regulations.
The notice must be given between 14 and 28 days before starting the works or change of use.
Once validated by the authority, works must commence on site within the 28-day period.
From January to September, there were 92 in Roscommon, 72 in Longford, while in Leitrim, there were 47.
Data shows that over 1,600 commencement notices for new homes were lodged in September 2025 - an increase from August's 1,156 units.
This is the highest monthly total so far this year.
From January 2025 to September 2025, there were 10,193 notices received.
