Over 200 carers across the Shannonside region are set to benefit from an expansion of the Carer's Allowance. The government has introduced changes to the means test for carers, and it is expected more will now qualify for the payment for the first time under the higher income limits. The Carer's Allowance income threshold will rise from €450 to €625 for a single person, and from €900 to €1,250 for carers with a spouse or partner.
