Funding has been paid out for over 170 homes across the Shannonside region which were vacant or derelict and brought back into use. A total of €155 million has been given out in grants by the Department of Housing. The Department of Housing has released its quarterly report on the number of vacant or derelict houses which were brought back into use, and the grant amounts that enabled their redevelopment as of June this year.
In the Shannonside region, Roscommon was the county with the most granted projects, at 85. This is followed by Co. Leitrim at 66, and 28 in Co. Longford. While 588 applications have so far been approved across the three counties -- of these, 179 were issued Vacant Property Refurbishment Grants upon completion of works. Grants of a total worth of over €9.8 million were paid out to the refurbished buildings. Nationally, funding has been paid out for 2,856 homes -- the highest number of applications were in Donegal, followed by Cork and Mayo.
