Over 150 council houses in the Shannonside region are currently vacant.
According to figures, Longford has the highest number of houses vacant in the region
The numbers were provided to Aontu leader and Meath West TD, Peadar Tóibín following a freedom of information request.

The release shows that 164 properties owned by local authorities across Longford, Leitrim, Roscommon, and Westmeath are currently vacant.
Longford has the highest number of vacant homes in the region at 95.
This is followed by Westmeath at 30 and Leitrim at 20.

Roscommon has the least number of council homes vacant regionally and nationally at 19.
350 local authority properties are vacant in Cork City, the highest in the country.
Nationally, over 3,500 council homes lie empty.
