Householders in the Shannonside region are being encouraged to apply for the Fuel Allowance.
The allowance will be paid to 410,000 households across the country from today.
There are 6,680 recipients in Roscommon, 5,330 in Longford and 4,194 in Leitrim.

The payment is made at the weekly rate of €33 or, if preferred, by way of two payments of €462 each.
