Over 1,000 Ukrainian children in schools across Shannonside region

Over 1,000 Ukrainian children are enrolled in schools across the Shannonside region.

There are 437 in primary and secondary schools in Leitrim, 204 in Longford, and 363 in Roscommon.

In total, there are nearly 17,500 Ukrainian kids in schools throughout the country.

Drumshanbo councillor Enda McGloin, from Fine Gael, says Ukrainian children have prevented some Leitrim schools from closing.
