There are only 581 gardai to cover over 9,000 square kilometres in Roscommon and Longford.
And there are only 551 officers to cover 4,200 square kilometres in Westmeath and Meath.
The figures were revealed in the Dáil by Sinn Féin TD Sorca Clarke.
