The number of asylum seekers coming into the country is 'substantially down on last year.'
That's according to Rural and Community Development Minister Dara Calleary.
It comes as the Department of Migration confirmed international protection applicants will not be accommodated in Academy House on Goff Street in Roscommon Town.
It follows a similar decision taken by the department to turn down an offer to open a refugee centre on the Leitrim side of Rooskey.
