NPHET view on antigen tests called into question

NPHET's being urged not to place Ireland's airline industry at a competitive disadvantage over the use of antigen testing.

NPHET’s view on antigen testing has been described as old fashioned by a Professor of Medicine.

The Chief Medical Officer will appear before an Oireachtas Committee later to explain his stance on the rapid tests.

Tony Holohan has been critical of the accuracy of the tests, which he said are only 50 percent effective.

But Professor of Medicine at the University of Oxford, Tim Peto, doesn’t agree:
