No reduction in air ambulance service due to Covid-19 restrictions

The Defence Forces says there has been no reduction in the air ambulance service as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.

Concerns had been raised locally that the aeromedical service was not flying or that there had been a reduced service since the pandemic restrictions began in March.

A spokesperson has told Shannonside news that the aeromedical team, which operates from Custume Barracks, is based in separate accommodation from the general army officers and that there is no change in its status.

Roscommon Hospital Action Committee Councillor Valerie Byrne says there's always a need to keep the pressure on the government to ensure the service is adequately resourced.
