Almost 2,400 parking fines were issued by Westmeath County Council last year in Athlone.
The figures were revealed at this weeks Athlone-Moate Municipal District meeting.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Aengus O'Rourke asked the council to provide an overview of parking enforcement activity in Athlone Town.
2,392 parking fines were issued in the town last year which is up from 1,823 in 2024.
The council took in just over €81,000 as a result of the fines issued in 2025.
However it was revealed that the local authority spent over €10,000 during court proceedings in relation to unpaid fines.
So far this year, 1,260 parking fines have been issued in Athlone this year.
That's result in the council taking in over €40,000 in the first 6 months of 2026.
